Do you want to sell digital products to help cut down on your client workload? Drive a bit more cash into your account for your next big trip or even a big life event, like a wedding or a kid? Digital download shops are a great way to do that — if you have the right roadmap.

Let’s cover my 6-step roadmap to making your first (or next) $10k.

Step #1: Create a product your customer craves.

So often, digital product creators think about digital products that “seem” popular in their industry (like courses, checklists, etc.) without thinking about what their customers actually want. Right now, ask yourself: Do you have a digital download product that quickly delivers a solution to a single one of your customer’s problems?

Step #2: Build interest and authority with content.

While your template or other digital product should absolutely solve a problem, you also need people to know that! This means creating content that helps your audience see that you understand them, and that continues to give them value. That way, when they’re ready for your product, they know exactly where to go! Your shop.

Step #3: Establish a promo calendar that keeps people excited to buy from you.

Your digital downloads are amazing — once they’re created, anything you make off them is profit. That’s why promotions, discounts, and sales are great because you’re not discounting something that you still have to create, like 1:1 services. Make sure you look ahead for the next one to two quarters and see if there are spaces where you could create a promotion or sale — and start prepping for that!

Step #4: Grow as a leader in your industry.

Be peers with the people you currently fangirl, with an affiliate program. Make it easy for people who love your products (or you) to recommend you, and get paid to do so! Step #5 Let more people know what’s possible.

Make connections with new audiences you never dreamed of, with joint ventures and other outreach. By hosting joint venture webinars, guest-hosting on podcasts, or even joining a Clubhouse or IG Live chat, you can establish yourself as the authority in new spaces — and turn those audiences into your customers, too.

Step #6: Work with a digital download shop coach.

If you want to hit your first or next $10k in your digital download shop, you need a specific game plan, encouragement, and accountability. That also means you’ll want a digital download shop coach!

Working with the right coach can help you scale your digital storefront more effectively — and with fewer hiccups than those lone wolf entrepreneurs who try to DIY an entire new business model alone. Find a coach who offers plenty of opportunities to ask questions, get feedback, and get moving on your favorite new revenue stream. Make sure they also have experience with the kind of success you want to see from your digital product shop!
