Would you rather have a product sent to your customers without having to lift a finger…OR would you rather spend time packing up each product one by one, to be individually shipped off to each customer?
That’s what you’re looking at when thinking about whether or not to invest your efforts into a D-Commerce™ product.
And I can tell you right now which one I’d pick…(and let’s be real here, you probably already know the answer to that too).
This is a term I coined (and trademarked!) because I was fed up with the passive income industry. It’s too focused on building a new audience, new product, or new business model rather than just taking what you already have and building something off of that.
But D-Commerce™ products aren’t courses, memberships, or even 1:1 coaching. Just because it’s online or digital doesn’t automatically mean it’s D-Commerce™.
Instead, they’re digital download products that can be delivered immediately without any setup on your or the customer’s end. There’s minimal setup and maintenance in a digital product shop — it basically runs itself if you can market it right.
And instead of having something drop shipped, D-Commerce™ allows you to simply attach digital files to your order confirmation — meaning customers get their purchase right away.
E-commerce on the other hand is any kind of dropship items or items you create yourself and sell. They’re physical products that get shipped to the online storefront, and it works just like an in-person store (except your purchase will be shipped to you).
Think Etsy shops — people are spending time creating a physical product, like a t-shirt or wall art, shipping it to you, and you wait a week or so to receive it.
D-Commerce™ products allow our customers to get a result fast, whereas, with a course, your customers have to go through a journey from point A to point Z to get the desired result. Either is great for your business and can help you bring in money without needing to trade your time, but knowing which is right for you depends on where you stand on time constraints and desired customer outcome.
D-Commerce™ products can be pulled from things you’ve probably already created — like templates and workbooks, and especially some of that juicy info inside your lead magnets! Creating a D-Commerce™ product and listing it on your online storefront can happen in a snap.
Online courses are more time-intensive to create and require a lot more mapping out and planning to create.
Do you want them to have immediate relief or do you want to provide them with something more in-depth that has the potential to transform parts of their business routines?
D-Commerce™ products — like swipe copy or contract templates — can be downloaded, filled in/customized as soon as the customer receives them. So, if someone is in a bind and needs a copy written fast or needs to draw up a new client contract on the fly, they’re already ready to go.
Courses require your customers to intentionally make time for every day. They have to be committed to upholding their part of the workload to make the results happen. And because of that, you’ll probably get more customers with D-Commerce™ products because more people are willing to purchase something fast and easily digestible than longer and more complex.
Your D-Commerce™ products could very well be your low-ticket offers, and your courses could be your mid-ticket ones.
D-Commerce™ products are a great compliment for anyone who already has an online course or membership. Because they’re considered lower ticker products positioned at the bottom of the sales funnel, they’re a great way to start your customer’s journey to becoming a raving, life-long fan!
If you’ve never created a D-Commerce™ product before, check out the video below. I’ll walk you through how to create your very first one and start selling it in your online shop!
SPOILER ALERT: It’s a lot easier than you think.
