(Okay, so I’m not a beach girl or a drinker. Picture less sand and umbrella drinks and more hiking boots and puffy vests.)
And I’m currently living my dream life high up in the Colorado Rockies.
But it definitely took some work to get here.
I took ONE step every day to move myself in the direction of my dreams.
Which, let’s be real… after blowing through all of my money and then some, my goal at the time was just to have a roof over my head.
But instead of giving in to despair, or listening to “Mean Christina” tell me that I was “too late,” “too dumb,” or “too tired” to achieve my dreams, I did one little thing every day that moved the needle for my business.
And today, I help others do the same by turning their passions and talents into products through small actions that have a big impact.
My best friend died, which broke my heart. And I spent most of December taking care of a family member as they came out of a coma.
On top of everything, my grand romantic gesture of leaving my 9 to 5 to start a yoga business totally flopped.
I was also looking at about $78,982 of credit card debt. (To this day, I’ve never told my family about it, but I guess if they’re reading this now, they know — Hi, dad!)
But more than just the debt, I was feeling totally lost. I knew that I didn’t want to return to a 9 to 5 life, but I also knew that I needed to do something different if I wanted to turn this whole thing around.
In the span of a year, I managed to pay off all that debt, become a force in the creative and wedding industries, and get on track to running what is now a 7-figure Shopify store.
And now even more of you can get a glimpse into why my digital download product store has been so successful by following along in one of our signature programs like Products on Tap or Twice as Nice! I don’t hold anything back. ;)
We had our best year yet, even though I barely worked. While it may sound too good to be true, my shop literally runs like an ATM… I wake up every day and check my bank balance to see it grow. While money doesn’t grow on trees, it does grow in digital product shops!
In May, we hit a major milestone I would never have dreamed of just a few years before. Things felt good, and momentum was growing! I was invited into Jenna Kutcher’s high-level mastermind. Leveling up like that was SCARY — but it also gave me the wings I needed to fly. I’ve been committed to high-ticket investments in coaching every since.
Traveling and speaking helped me learn a lot about myself while building my brand. I rebranded my template store from “Christina Scalera” to The Contract Shop® and switched from Squarespace to a Shopify store, opening the floodgates of sales!
I know you hear this all the time, and maybe you don’t believe it either, but you can and will sell things when you have people who want to buy from you. I learned this firsthand as more and more people began to buy my contract templates.
I was broke (like BROKE broke) and looking to pick up some legal work as a backup. Plot twist: My friend was also broke. So I gave her some sanitized versions of contracts I had written for other clients. She told me I should sell them. That’s when the wheels started turning...
Wanting to turn my passion project into a business, I decided to become a yoga teacher. I was going to be different! (Spoiler alert: I was not different. Just a below-average yoga teacher struggling to make ends meet.)
