Are you excited for Black Friday? Put the thoughts of leftover turkey and crazy crowds to the side for a sec, because I want to talk about the really exciting bits of Black Friday when it comes to your digital products.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are HUGE opportunities for you to double or even triple your daily revenue, so if you aren’t ready ahead of time, that could really cost you. Now is the perfect time to start planning! So today, let’s talk about the 5 steps you need to do to prepare your digital product shop for your best Black Friday ever.
All good plans start with a solid goal. Before you start on anything, start setting some sales goals that are doable, but not too comfortable (ambition is a great driver!). Make them SMART goals: specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely.
From there, you can easily brainstorm ways to get these goals on track. This creates the framework for your Black Friday/Cyber Monday marketing plan.
Every step of your Black Friday promotion is geared towards these goals, so it should start to take shape naturally. Never be afraid to do some research and check out your “niche neighbors,” so to speak; inspiration may strike you unexpectedly!
Now, it’s time to implement your Black Friday-specific promotion. Yes, I mean NOW (unless you’re reading this the morning of Black Friday)! You don’t want to just come online the day-of and try to get your audience’s attention. There will be way too much competition by that point.
Start building some hype over your promotions. You can give a glimpse of your Black Friday/Cyber Monday exclusive discounts, or even market them in a fun, tongue-in-cheek promotion. These are the perfect opportunities to tease the release of a new product or advertise some pre-sells.
You ultimately want to get your people excited to come to your shop that particular day. Whether that’s to see your new product, claim their spot in line, or just score a great coupon, you are the hype-master for your business, so make it fun!
This tip is a little less fun than the last one, but no less important. Start updating (or in some cases, start creating) your sales landing pages before the big day. You can even create a page specifically for your promotion(s) to bring even more attention to it!
Also, don’t forget that Black Friday comes with some logistical challenges. Double-check your backend systems to work out the kinks BEFORE the sales page gets that Black Friday traffic. Trust me, it’s a lot less stressful to deal with it a week or two out, instead of the day when everyone is trying to make their purchase!
If you have been following our blog for a while, you’ve probably heard us rave about the benefits of creating your own affiliate marketing program. Black Friday is just ONE of the great examples of when this kind of program starts to show its true potential!
You can offer a BF/CM-specific affiliate program special or bonus as an incentive to push sales. Be sure to read more on our blog to see how to utilize your affiliate program for Black Friday!
Getting the most out of your Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales requires a bit of follow-up. Remember, you are likely to get a lot of new visitors in your shop, so make sure to make an impression! You can start preparing an email nurture sequence so Black Friday customers become repeat customers.
And then, of course, you can’t forget your SMART goals! Take a look at the analytics from the weekend and see which promotions hit home. Did you meet your goals? Great! And if not, don’t despair: this makes for great practice for next year!
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are a big deal for your online business and the time to prepare your site and strategy is NOW! Luckily, with some solid goals, thorough planning, and amazing follow-up, your marketing plan is ready to make the most of this exciting weekend.
